April Hair Carnival: Copy Cat Style!

For this months Hair carnival each blogger was secretly assigned another blog, and had to choose a style to recreate. The blog I was assigned to was Precious Curls. Right from the start I knew this was going to be a challenge because Precious' hair type is so different from Keyanna's. After looking through all the styles on her blog we chose to go with the Zig Zag Flat Twists in a Bun

This style was really quick and easy, although I didn't do our flat twists the same way precious did hers. Hers are  more like a 2 strand twist (which look a lot cooler) I just haven't mastered that technique yet.. so I basically just "rolled" the hair for our flat twists.

I loved this style and will def be doing it again in the future!

Don't forget to check out all the other great copy cat styles!

Product Review: Hair Flairs Color Rub

Recently I was approached by Hair Flairs and asked to review a new product they had come out with.

Hair Flairs Color Rub is a temporary color that literally rubs directly on to hair and creates a fun look until it washes out with the next shampoo.

Of course Keyanna and I jumped at the opportunity to do this review, She was thrilled with the idea of having colorful hair.. So we took a look at the site and she chose the Fuchsia Flare color.
When we first received the Color Rub in the mail Keyanna couldn't wait to try it out, I was a little skeptical of how well it would really work since it is in a powder form and I had never seen anything like it.
We immediately took down her ponytail she had been wearing that day and I applied the color rub to a strip of her hair. I was surprised how bright it was since Keyanna's hair is a darker blonde/brown, it really stood out. I didn't apply much because I wasn't sure how temporary it really was, but after her bath that night there was no evidence that she had ever had pink hair.

The next day I braided her hair and decided to add some pink to the tips of her hair for a rockstar look, and she definitely felt like one!

Before applying it to Keyanna's hair I watched their "How-To" video, The color rub was very easy to apply. I opted against using gloves and the color did stain my hands so I would recommend everyone take their suggestion and use them. They also mention that the color rub can transfer onto clothing and suggest wearing darker colors.

Overall Keyanna and I are very pleased with this product. She received a ton of compliments over the weekend, and is asking for more colors now! I love that the color was so bright, but is very temporary and washed out easily.

You can purchase Hair Flairs Color Rub on their website for $13.00, and they have 9 colors to choose from. We used about half of our color rub to create this style.

Have you ever used chemicals or heat in your daughters hair?
I’ve Tried blow drying it, but it makes it really dry and frizzy.

How did you learn to care for your daughters hair?
Watching A LOT of YouTube.

Was there anything you really struggled with learning about caring  for or styling your daughters hair? Anything you’re looking forward to mastering?
I still can’t figure out how to do the 4 strand braid… but I know someday I will get it!

Any tips for our readers?
Just listen to your baby, if she says she’s tired of sitting then let her rest for a while and finish up later that day.

Show us some pics!

My Valentine

Just wanted to share a few of Keyanna's Valentines Day portraits we had done this weekend. I kept her hair simple and just did pigtails with a couple of cute bows. I curled her hair using our long and wide Curlformers.

Valentines Style: Braided Heart Ponytails

So.. it’s not quite Valentines day yet, but we did this style a little early to give you all another idea for the holiday. We actually started out planning to do a different heart style by Goldilocks*N*Me but the mood struck me to braid so we switched it up and came up with this style. Braided hearts are Keyanna’s favorite so she was definitely pleased when we finished, and has received tons of compliments by all her friends and teachers.

For this style all I did was basically “draw” out the hearts using the end of a rat tail comb, tie them off using a rubber band, and then make an outline around each heart for the braids. I started at the top of the heart and braided down each side. After the 3 hearts were done I just did random small ponytails all over her head with the remaining hair and then braided them and added beads.

You can check out last years Valentines day style that we did HERE

How are your kids wearing their hair for Valentines day? Feel free to post pics to our Facebook Page

Style Quickie: Cage Braid

I came across a youtube video a few days ago by CuteGirlsHairstyles where they showed how to do a cage braid, I had never even heard of this before but it looked easy enough so we gave it a try.

It was extremely easy and only took me 15 minutes to do. I love the look of this braid and Keyanna got tons of compliments too. I won't even attempt to explain how to do this braid but you can check an easy to follow tutorial here

Let me know what you think!
